Stephen Hough has commented on the absense of Jesus in the painting, a Man so influential that vast swathes of humanity reset the calendar and started again.
Still, the inclusion of Our Lord and Our Blessed Lady in this picture would have been somewhat sacriligious, what with Christ not being 'just another' man among other 'important men' and His Mother not being 'just another woman'. I've looked at the image and it is thoroughly depressing when you look at who, in the eyes of the World, have been most influential...Sigmund Freud, Hitler, Shirley Temple and Elvis!
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta is there, on the far right, and she does not look happy about it. Bizarre...
