The great irony, of course, is that if Bill Gardner was made homeless today, we would still feed him at our soup run. We show love to the loveless. We don't offer a 'test' of worthiness. Not, of course, that we would wish such a misfortune on anybody, such as the loss of their home, career, livelihood or indeed, reputation.
