I don't often watch EWTN these days. Apart from Raymond Arroyo most of the other presenters in their chunky tweed jackets and beards (the men, I mean) all look and sound very...umm.....Episcopalian? Not sure, but they certainly don't sound very Catholic and as for the Daily Masses...pass the smelling salts please!
But today I flipped away from the dire lunchtime news to EWTN and was immediately riveted to the spot by a priest called Fr Timothy Gallagher OMV which stands for Oblates of the Virgin Mary (well, I didn't know).
He has a soft voice, a straightforward style of address and a clear and lucid approach to things theological. He did not speak in modernist slang, he just spoke with real intensity about the faith.
He has a website HERE and he has a small but growing range of books and DVDs. He is probably very well known in the States but, I suspect, less so here in what we used to call Great Britain.
A man to watch, in more ways than one.
