Shaking the bucket...for abortions!

A £10 donation to Virgin Money Giving's anti life fund
will support the killing of lots more of these cell type things
some people call babies

Now who would wish to donate money to support organisations such as BPAS, the abortion service that specialises in killing infants in the womb (plus counselling, of course)?

It appears that, some people are willing to throw a bit of cash in that direction even though, BPAS is not apparently short of a pound or two.

A certain James Ball has got the bucket shaking for BPAS because, in his words, women are intimidated by the 40 Days for Life campaigners outside abortuaries.

Let me say this once more....women are intimi....OK, I know you got the message, it was my brain that was struggling to comprehend it.

I have been on a few 40 Day vigils in the past five years and I have never witnessed a woman being terrorised as she enters the 'clinic'.

What I have seen is a lot of women terrorised by those who support the murder of babies and by so called Young Thugs Socialists.
They are not above threatening men also and it grieves me to think that I have signed up to the vigil organiser's protocol that states that all aggro must be met with a smile and Christian charity.

I still believe that Christian charity should be dished out Don Camillo fashion.

But I am, of course, wrong.

A fixed smile hides rising blood pressure but I pray through it all (and for the thugs) and it passes off, like water on a duck's back.

Now, we live, allegedly, in a free country, and it is entirely up to the individual to donate, or not, to whichever charity they wish.

But BPAS is a business, you might just as well give cash to Barclays Bank or Marks and Spencers, I'm sure they would welcome it but the fact is, they don't need it.

And, in the case of BPAS, surely they don't deserve it.

Their CEO, Ann Furredi, naturally enough, welcomes the bung; in fact, such spontaneous generosity often leaves her in tears.

Here is what she says about Mr Ball's enterprise:

"I just want to say a really BIG thanks for your donation page. – and, of course to donors. The comments are just amazing. The whole thing has actually reduced some of us to reaching for tissues! I guess it’s a bit novel for people to be so spontaneously generous to us.  It sends a lovely message to all our staff. We are feeling the love!"

“We are feeling the love”……..aah, isn’t that just so very nice?

Much nicer than “We are feeling the scalpel”

Fundraising has now stopped but will, almost certainly start again when the next vigil commences.

When it does, some people might like to leave a message (a charitable one) on their Facebook page ‘Boycott the 40 Days for Life’

Dateline London

A two day visit to London on business meant that I could join the Bedford Square 40 Days for Life Vigil on Monday for a little over one hour.

A young man (Jan) was in charge and, in the course of my watch I met Kathy (signing off), Gerald, a philosophy student and Daniel, a French expatriate.

Given that, what the Japanese call "comfort" breaks had to be taken, we were really pretty thin on the ground and more people are needed to register for the remainder of the vigil days. Even if you can only manage 15 or 30 minutes, it will aid the cause tremendously. You can register online HERE.

Jan explained that he had counselled one Nigerian woman that day. She already had one infant and was now pregnant for a second time.
She did not want to abort her child but she was under intense pressure from her parents to do so.
It appears that this is so often the case; the woman wishes to bear the child but the father/parent/'good' friend pushes them into it.

As Jan said: "It is the mother who will carry the burden of pain and anguish, not the parents".

He added that he had offered the woman all the material support and counselling help she might need if she decided to keep the baby.

A priest led us in the Rosary and it turned out that he was no other than the PP of St Patrick's Soho Square, Fr Alexander Sherbrooke. We chatted for a few minutes and when I told him that we and many others in Wales, travelled 70 miles one way to attend a Latin Mass on a Sunday he looked rather bemused.
A hard concept to grasp if you run a city parish.

After my shift I made my way to Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane for the evening Sung Mass and to join Catherine, my youngest daughter there.

En route, I found myself in Soho Square so I called in to St Pat's and lit a candle at the Pieta for family and friends and all bloggers and readers.

On to Corpus Christi, a real haven of peace in an increasingly insane world. Sitting in the church listenening to the shrieks and guffaws coming from outside I was reminded of Belloc's lines:

How I hate the human race
How I hate its silly face

At least, I think they belong to Belloc, someone will put me right no doubt.

The Mass itself was pretty mind blowing; a Requiem mass for the soul of Fr Henty Dodd.

The all male choir were impressive and, although I normally like to hear female altos and sopranos, it was a very professional and moving delivery.
Among the altar servers I spotted one MC from the hallowed ground of Blackfen (he who must be obeyed at the twitch of an eyebrow) plus the usual London gang.

After Mass Catherine and I met up with one of the aristocrats of the blogging world who had been in the congregation. None other than the Marquis of Yns Mon himself.

The three of us trundled off to the now famous Coal Hole, favoured haunt of Frs T & Z when in town.

As it was Lent we sank a number of soft drinks before moving on to eat at Abeno near Charing Cross Road.

Again, with due Lenten observance we went there as it is basically a Japanese fast food outlet although, on this occasion, it took them a long time to produce our order.

Okonomyaki - the Japanese pancake or pizza, perhaps a tad too delicious for Lent but we had to eat something.

One of the highlights of the evening for me was Catherine describing how she and her eldest sister attended an OF Mass recently (no EF being available).
Both girls went to receive Holy Communion wearing mantillas and kneeling to receive. Apparently, the priest and most of the congregation gave them funny looks but, as a father it did my heart good to hear how these two beautiful young women (my words) had the courage to do the right thing.
And such acts do take courage, believe me.

Quite a day. One with so many highlights. Praying outside an abortuary is something I find strangely uplifting; I don't quite know why.

Attending a glorious Mass.

Meeting up with Catherine and Lord Yns Mon and, yes, the Okonomyaki was pretty good also.

The cry of an aborted child

This poem came to light recently courtesy of my nephew who found it hidden among the usual family documents.

It was written in 1969 by my late brother John who was a great influence on my own Catholic faith and whose example probably was the main guide to my own orthodoxy.

John wrote the poem following a newspaper report (22nd May 1969) regarding an aborted baby crying out while on its way to the incinerator - a thought that is hard and abhorrent to contemplate.

So, on the first day of the 40 Days for Life, on behalf of my nephew, Michael, I dedicate this to those attending vigils being held throughout the world.

Hear me O God.  Hear.
From the depths of my condemned cell I cry.
None will hear me but You because You see,
I have no vote.
I did not murder nor did I steal or wound.
Yet I am held here helpless before the sterile steel.
Or the poisoned needle.
A death too brutal for murderers is a death
reserved for me.
No comforting breast nor loving Mother's arms await me.
My body will be given to be burned.
What have I done? I have not earned
this sordid unlamented end.
In sin was I conceived. Unwanted I die
before I shall be born.
O when the metal enters my brain,
when I shall kick my last convulsive agony,
take me, take me to Your arms.
None will console me, none cherish me.
None hear my last suffocated
shriek from the traitorous womb.
Save You, save only You.
O love me God.

John Francis Collins RIP

Please help this poem gain coverage in the hope that it may reach into the hearts of the politicians, doctors, nurses and others who are involved in this barbaric practice.

Welcome to BPAS your friendly abortion provider

You won't see this picture on the BPAS website

The BPAS website is a gem of wholesome, nursey type guidance and advice.

Little would you suspect that what the kind Doctor and gentle nurses want to do is kill the infant in your womb, cut up the body and remove it piece by piece ready for a dignified ceremony known as 'Burial by flushing away'.

The preparation procedures for an abortion are described in the sort of language one might find if you picked up your Great Aunt's copy of  The Lady magazine; refined, restrained and....ermm...discreet?

Here is an extract from their advice as to what the day holds for the woman who is intent on putting herself through this procedure................I've had to zip up the colour of the copy as what I have shown as blood red is, in fact, pink on their site and the blue is a pastel shade also. So calming, pastels. My comments in green.

Can I bring someone along with me? (Well, an infant in your womb would be useful)
We’re happy for you to bring someone along if it helps you. If you are going to have a procedure where you are put to sleep or under sedation, it is advisable to have someone with you who can take you home. Space is a little limited though, so please make sure it’s only one person.
There aren’t any facilities for children (but, I thought that all of the facilities were for children all those shiny scalpels and probes and things) at our clinics so please make arrangements for childcare if necessary.
If you are under 16 (now I'm getting confused; one minute you say 'no children allowed' and then you say you are treating children)
You will need an adult (someone who is 18 or over) to escort you home after your treatment. We are happy for a female adult (this is nothing less than discrimination, what about the poor father, doesn't he have a support role?) to stay with you throughout your treatment with us.

Training midwives in the dark art

The dark art being, of course, abortion.

It would seem unthinkable that a woman (most midwives are women) who has dedicated her career to aiding the safe delivery of a baby and the pre and post natal care of the mother, should even contemplate the act of abortion let alone become an abortionist.

But that is what an American organisation called Ipas is doing, recruiting and training midwives to become destroyers of life.

Here is their proud claim to fame:-

characters from www.notebaja.org
Is this the most evil computer game in the world?

Since 2001, Ipas has trained more than 10,000 midwives in abortion and
postabortion care because we believe that midwives are an integral part of
reproductive health care. From Nepal to Nigeria, these trained midwives contribute
to better maternal health and fewer deaths from unsafe abortion

Ipas has also developed what they call an "innovative computer game" designed to guide a young woman through the stages beginning with a missed period and culminating in termination - end game!

If you have the stomach to read their glib copy, you can find out about the "game" HERE

It is only a question of time before such "initiatives" are made freely available in Britain.

BPAS has some guidance on the issue using what must be the most inappropriate wording possible, for example, when discussing manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) the process whereby, in the early stages of pregnancy, the infant is hoovered out of the womb, they describe as being a "gentle hand-operated" process. Weasel wording if ever was.

Here is part of their sales pitch:-

"Can appropriately-trained nurses safely carry out abortion procedures?
Yes. Forty years ago when the Abortion Act was drafted, today’s modern, less invasive early abortion methods were not available and the nursing role was much more restricted. Nurses already carry out several modern early abortion procedures including early medical abortion (the ‘abortion pill’ method), but can’t prescribe the medicine for this, due to the restrictions of the present law2. Manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) is a method of early surgical abortion (offered from 4 weeks’ to 12 weeks’ gestation), which removes the pregnancy using a gentle hand-operated suction pump3 and does not require full anaesthesia. The level of technical skill required to do this is of a similar level to fitting a contraceptive ‘coil’ (IUD/IUS) which BPAS’ and NHS family-planning trained nurses already routinely do, but because of the specifications of the 1967 law, appropriately-trained abortion nurses are not able to offer this to women".

The moves to train midwives to destroy rather than save may backfire on the likes of BPAS as, in general, I do believe that the British public have a rather traditional view of the midwife as a homely, maternal sort of character who orders up gallons of hot water before skilfully delivering a healthy baby and slapping it on the back.

The actress, Miranda Hart has aided this image of wholesome goodness in her series 'Call the midwife' - it would be hard to imagine the television viewing public being similarly enamoured if she was to start killing life in the womb rather than delivering a bonny baby.

BPAS: Rattled as a Rattlesnake in Rattleshire

Abortionist advertisement by Marie Stopes in the BMJ
Courtesy of the Daily Mail

'New doctors will be put off from providing abortion services after recent pro-life protests at clinics around the UK, medical providers have warned.

Activists from groups such as '40 Days for Life' have been holding daily prayer vigils outside clinics run by the British Pregnancy Advisory Service in London.

Although the group claim their protests are peaceful some have accused them of intimidation. Last month one woman complained she was filmed leaving a BPAS clinic.

Abortion providers said trainee medics will also be put off from training as the service has recently come under intense political scrutiny. A spokesman for the BPAS said: 'Abortion is a vital yet stigmatised area of women's healthcare which few doctors train in. The current politicisation of abortion provision is likely to make it even harder to recruit a future generation of abortion doctors who are prepared to provide the care that a third of women will need in the course of their lifetimes.'

In other words: "Don't even think about 'turning the clock' back or of campaigning against what we do because otherwise doctors won't come forward to kill the unborn"...

A couple of things become apparent in this recent bit of media engineering by BPAS. Firstly, they are complaining of the current 'politicisation' of abortion provision. Well, back in 1967 and the years running up to that fateful year, I guess BPAS were not concerned about the 'politicisation' of the issue of abortion. After all, abortion was part of the 'women's liberation' and the 'sexual revolution' movement in general. There were banners, there were placards, there were demands for 'choice'. It was highly charged and a heavily politicised issue. If it hadn't been so 'politicised', I guess the Abortion Act wouldn't have passed.

BPAS and Marie Stopes continue to lobby the Government for wider access to be made available for abortion services in the United Kingdom. BPAS don't have a problem with politicising abortion. What they do have a problem with is not being in control of the debate. The activities of 40 Days for Life, The Telegraph's investigation, as well as the recent Care Quality Commission findings about illegal procedures taking place at clinics is throwing the spotlight on the abortion issue in a way that makes BPAS a little uncomfortable. And, uncomfortable, they most definitely should be. BPAS are upset not because the issue is politicised, but because they are no longer in control of the debate. In fact, they are uncomfotable because, suddenly, there is a debate.

There has been significant and more clamourous protests against abortion in the United States for a long time since Roe Vs Wade, but that has not stopped Planned Parenthood from extending its services all across the US. Similarly, however, Planned Parenthood is now worried because similarly illegal activities have been exposed in the US. Will pro-life campaigning, awareness-raising and prayer vigils impact on the number of doctors willing to become abortionists in the UK? It is hard to say, but then this is an issue of freedom of speech and until the day that it becomes illegal for people to bear witness to the unborn outside clinics, pro-lifers can surely only hope and pray that such vigils awaken the conscience of not just doctors performing abortion, nor just doctors thinking of applying for work as abortionists, but indeed that of the whole nation.

The BPAS statement also throws some light on whose choice an abortion really is: It is not the choice of the mother - the mother exercises choice in giving her consent - the real choice is that of the doctor who performs the procedure and the choice for that doctor is to hold life and death in his or her hands and to choose death for the unborn. The procedure is not carried out by the woman, but by the doctor. It is interesting to note, too, that actually, not many doctors want to go into this area of work. Now, why could that be?

Thanks to one of my readers for pointing out to me the Daily Mail's other interesting story today for pro-lifers. Apparently, babies are being medicated in the womb to prevent them from becoming obese. Whatever you think about that, because personally I think it is highly dubious, well done to the Mail for recognising the humanity of the pre-born. I suppose its better than killing them because they've inherited the 'fat gene'. Yes, that's right - incredible as it may appear to modern eyes and ears, babies in the womb really are babies and Robbie Williams already knows his unborn baby is a girl! Good for you, Robbie, good for you. All of these stories aren't good for BPAS. Ah well, too bad...

Kudos to Forty Days for Life!

This organisation and the others who took part in the crusade that has just ended are to be congratulated on their quiet but firm spiritual approach to campaigning against abortion and the effects that it carries with it to those who participate and especially to those women who undergo this treatment.
We were providentially fortunate in being able to join the Melbourne group but, it would have been a real spiritual challenge to face the venom of the demonic in Bedford Square when Bishop Alan Hopes led the group in prayer.

The location was the BPAS abortuary in London's Bedford Square.

And the acronym BPAS? What does it stand for?

British Pregnancy Abortion Service!!!!

Not One of Ours...

The Press Association are reporting that this man (pictured left) was a pro-lifer who paraded his chest, emblazoned with a Cross, in an antagonistic gesture towards 'pro-choicers'.

Read Dr Joseph's Shaw account here in which he confirms that this man was most definitely not one of ours though, frankly, I think the image itself tells you that quite plainly.

The Press Association didn't manage to publish this image with their 'story'. Oh well, I guess journalists just make these mistakes sometimes...

Well done to Dylan for picking up on the fiction in the first place.

BPAS: Charity or Industry?

A truly excellent analysis today by Caroline Farrow on Clare Murphy, Director of Press and Publicity at BPAS.

Clare Murphy has written an article in today’s Independent claiming that those who are using the language of business and commerce for abortion clinics are insulting women who choose to have an abortion.

For tax reasons BPAS is a charity.  We know what they do for unborn babies. Whether BPAS 'help' women is objectively much contested. Not that it would justify it, but I wonder just how many letters the BPAS receive from women saying, "Thanks so much for helping me. When I needed a shoulder you were there."

Talking of which, I popped up just now to see 40 Days for Life in Brighton. I was told by one of the volunteers there that despite what The Argus may have reported, 40 Days for Life are helping one woman who broke down in tears when she arrived at the abortion clinic. She is homeless and is now going through detox in the hope of having her baby. She is now living with one of the volunteers of 40 Days for Life and receiving true charity and support. She is awaiting placement by the Council, which I expect will mean some form of temporary accommodation. We know what temporary accommodation is like in Brighton. The woman is a rape victim who felt, on arriving at the clinic, that she didn't have a 'choice'.  Having asked BPAS to see a scan and having received counselling from 40 Days for Life, she wants to try and keep her baby. I say 'try' because as we know it is likely that because of her addictions the vultures at social services will be hovering over her when she gives birth. Keep her in your prayers.  I'm thinking very much of going up to Bedford Square this evening to pray and to cover the vigil tonight with Bishop Alan Hopes.

Help Support 40 Days for Life on Friday

40 Days for Life: Bearing witness to the right to life of the unborn child
'Quae est ista quae progreditur quasi aurora consurgens, pulchra ut luna, electa ut sol, terribilis ut castrorum acies ordinata?'

'Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in array?'

Tomorrow, on Friday 30th March, the 38th day of the pro-life vigil outside BPAS in Bedford Square, London will take place.  Bishop Alan Hopes will be there in the evening from 7 - 8.30pm.

The 'Battle of Bedford Square' will be a spiritual battle and 40 Days for Life need our prayers. It is promised by such groups as Abortion Rights that an opposing demonstration supporting abortion will be taking place on the same day, in the same place, in response, presumably, to the success of the 40 Days for Life campaign.

If you can, go. If you cannot go, then dedicate some time to praying that pro-lifers will be protected from what we can expect to be some aggressive and rather indelicate tactics used by the supporters of the barbaric practice of abortion - since barbarism and the slaughter of the innocent is what they are defending.

Pray too for all expectant mothers and their unborn children and let's not forget also to pray for the doctors whose consciences have been seared by their profession that they may turn away from this evil, as well as our other enemies, those who will be turning out to protest against 40 Days for Life. It is said that the Abortion Rights group have gathered a large number set to turn out in opposition to 40 Days for Life. 40 Days for Life expect to be dramatically outnumbered. Abortion Rights appear to be wanting to turn their counter-demonstration into a 'celebration of abortion and women's rights'. Given that the vast majority of people in the UK believe abortion to be 'highly regrettable', that is an approach that may just backfire.

Two letters today appeared in The Guardian, one from the SPUC's Education and Publicity Manager, defending the work of the SPUC in schools and one from a lady called Professor Wendy Savage heading a group of fellow workers, research fellows and gynaecologists who are very concerned that the nature of the public debate on abortion is changing, thanks in particular to The Telegraph's investigation into 'gendercide'. According to Wikipedia:

'Professor Wendy Savage (born 12 April 1935 in Surrey) is a British gynaecologist, and advocate and campaigner of women's rights in childbirth and fertility.

Dr Savage read medicine at Girton College, Cambridge. She qualified in 1960 and was the first woman consultant to be appointed in obstetrics and gynaecology at The London Hospital. She has worked in the United States of America, Nigeria, Kenya, and New Zealand. In New Zealand she set up an abortion service before the law was liberalised. She was an elected member of the General Medical Council for more than 16 years. She was shortlisted for the BMJ Group Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.'
It looks like Professor Savage (apt name) may have been a back-street abortionist in New Zealand before the law was 'liberalised'. Looks to me like one of my more recent guitar efforts might just as well have been written about her. From the back-street, to the front-street, to the GMC and the BMI. Really, her signature is quite telling because that's the real story of abortion in the UK. Pray and offer up your Friday penance for the work of 40 Days for Life. They will have a good escort in the Blessed Mother of God, Mary Most Holy, destroyer of all heresies and protectress of the unborn.

The Back-Street Abortionists

The Back-Street Abortionists

There was a time you could go and see a back-street abortionist
A time you could go and see a back-street abortionist
Have your unborn baby killed by a back-street abortionist
But we left those 'dark days' behind!

There was a time you’d be imprisoned as a back-street abortionist
A time you’d be imprisoned as a back-street abortionist
Killin' babies was illegal while there were some who supported it
But we left those 'dark days' behind!

Lord Steele had an idea he said,
“Let’s move the abortionists!”
Said: “Here’s an idea! Let’s move the abortionists!”
So we moved the abortionists and for over 40 years
Let them kill babies noon, sunset, sunrise

Oh, whatever happened to those back-street abortionists?
Whatever happened to those back-street abortionists?
Maybe they just became the front-street abortionists
As they were told that they had ‘served their time’

Now you can go and see your front-street abortionist
You can go and see your front-street abortionist
Have your unborn babies killed by your front-street abortionist
'Cos nothing’s sacred, not even your baby’s life!

Kill your babies at the front-street abortionists!
Kill your babies at the front-street abortionists!
Kill your babies at the front-street abortionists!
That’s the message of ‘Abortion Rights’!
Kill your babies at the front-street abortionists!
Say, “It’s my body!”
As they sling a bag of babies in!
Cry, "It's my body!"
As they sling another bag of babies in!
Into the bin outside!

Kill your babies at the front-street abortionists!
Kill your babies at the front-street abortionists!
Say, “It’s my choice!”
No, dear, its the choice of the abortionist
The one with the pills, hoover, knife
The one who takes your baby’s life
The ones who used to be 'inside'
In those 'dark days' when child murder was a crime

(Optional Extra Verse)

Lord Steele
Here's an idea!
Let's close the abortionists!
Here's an idea!
Let's move the abortionists!
Let's move the abortionists, back where they really oughta sit
In a prison cell for their crime
Until they've really 'served their time'
Then we can say: 'We've left those dark days behind...'

Do the Unborn Children Know Its Christmas Time?

Do the unborn children know its Christimas time?

At Christmas time
We recall the night when all of Creation stood still
O Blessed Night
Creator meets Creation and all of Creation’s fulfilled
When the Virgin Mother gave birth in a stable to the Holy Child
We recall in her spotless womb for nine months dwelt Our Lord Jesus Christ

So spare a thought, say a prayer over Christmas time
For the pregnant and all the child-bearing
If they fear that their child will be a burden then tell them
"This is a burden worth sharing"
Pray they’ll have the courage to bring into the World the children in their wombs now residing
‘Cos its is a darkened World where the Light of Christ
Is in clear, present danger of dying
Tell me does the unborn child?
Does the unborn child?
Do the unborn children know its Christmas time?

At Christmas time
We recall the night Our Lady gave birth to her Son
Wrapped her Child in swaddling clothes in a manger near the oxen
Shepherds saw and followed the bright night Star of Bethlehem
Heard a chorus of Angels shout "Peace, joy, goodwill to all men"

So say a prayer, say a prayer over Christmas time
For the schools our Shepherds should be protecting
Pray they’ll tell Connexions they’re bang out of line
Unborn children really are worth defending!
What good are good grades if they don’t know their Faith
Is the Catholic Faith now academic?
In Catholic schools, morning after pills, abortion referrals
‘What no telling?’
Now tell me does the unborn child?
Now tell me does the unborn child?
Do the unborn children know its Christmas time?

At Christmas time
We recall the night when St Joseph was warned in a dream
To take Our Lady and the Child to another nearby country
So on a donkey they fled Bethlehem and found their way abroad
O Blessed Flight when St Joseph acted in accordance with the Lord

But just recall the reason why St Joseph took Our Lady and the Christ Child to Egypt
It wasn’t for a nice winter holiday or to look at some exotic pyramids
It was because the Angel of the Lord warned St Joseph of the Roman Emperor, Herod
He wanted Jesus dead, the true King he feared
Ordered the Massacre of the Innocents!
Every family’s first born child!
Every familiy’s first born child!
The children of Bethlehem
Slaughtered at Christmas time!

At Christmas time
We recall the night when the Virgin held the Christ in her arms
The teenage Mother adores the true Son of God
O Blessed Mother pray for all expectant mothers to your Son, the most High
And for all who didn’t expect a conception at this time

Let us recall one moment only months earlier
When Our Lady met her holy cousin
The child in Elizabeth’s womb St John the Baptist, Herald of the Messiah
When Elizabeth heard the sound of Our Lady’s voice
St John leapt for joy inside his mother
The unborn child knew the Unborn Child
Of Our Lady was his Saviour and Brother
Now tell me does the unborn child?
Does the unborn child?
When will the unborn children know that its Christmas time?

How can God be a child, how can a child be God?
How can the Lord of Lords become a zygote?
The Saviour of the World!
The Saviour of the World!
Our Lord Jesus Christ!
Was once ‘a clump of cells’!

So remember this December, at Christmas time
Remember this December the Unborn Child
If you don’t know where to turn
And you’re feeling desperate
Don’t let the BPAS kill your child
Don’t let the BPAS kill your child
Call the Good Counsel Network this Christmas time

If by some Miracle you like the song and want to show your appreciation, show your appreciation to Our Lady of Good Counsel and donate to the Good Counsel Network here.

In my head, this songs quite good but when I sing I think it it sounds appalling. I think it needs children to sing it. Preferably Catholic children. Preferably in front of an audience which includes the Bishops Conference of England and Wales. Well, we can dream!

THE HOUSE OF HORRORS

BEHIND THESE SEEMINGLY INNOCENT DOORS, FOUL MURDER IS BOTH PLANNED AND CARRIED OUT. HERE IN A LEAFY, PLEASANT SQUARE IN THE CENTRE OF LONDON, BABIES ARE BEING SLAIN ON A DAILY BASIS.

ONLY 50 PER CENT OF THE PATIENTS WHO
ENTER HERE WILL COME OUT ALIVE!

My wife and I joined the 40 Days for Life vigil outside the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) offices (26 Bedford Square) last Friday. They cannot even come clean with their name; it's not pregnancy advice, it's abortion advice, how to get rid of the infant in your womb.
There were not many of us. A total of six volunteers, including ourselves, came and went within the space of two hours. The organisation is in dire need of more cover from more volunteers so please, even if you only have 30 minutes to spare, sign on here and call by. It is always an unnerving experience standing up in public and proclaiming your beliefs. Praying the rosary and other prayers out loud for all to see and gawp at calls on our convictions. But, of course, that is part of the point, it is the Sacrament of Confirmation kicking in and giving us the moral courage to do such things and it is also seeing the courage of the 40 Days 'formal' volunteers and those from the Good Counsel Network that is so very inspirational. These people do this routinely but, I suspect, with the same difficulties that we 'informal' volunteers suffer.

Some 10 or 12 women entered the abortuary, none accompanied by husbands or boyfriends. A similar number of males came and went independently. Some took the leaflets offered by the volunteer at the door, others politely demurred. Meanwhile, we recited our decades, chanted our litanies and said the Angelus at 12 noon.
We left with a sense of relief (standing still on one spot for too long) and a modest sense of accomplishment; an ambition realised at last, a good cause supported.

I could not help but feel, however, that more Catholics should be taking part. Is abortion now such a by word that the man or woman in the pew no longer recoil from it? Has the destruction of life in the womb become totally socially acceptable? Where are the priests, the Bishops, the nuns and the brothers? Well, to be fair, some were at the alternative vigil outside the Marie Stopes abortuary in nearby Whitfield Street.
I hesitate to offer criticism when such a good cause is the subject but, why have two sessions running at the same time? I am at a bit of a loss as to comprehending just who the varying Catholic/Christian pro life groups are. SPUC of course is well known but how do Mary Stops Abortion, The Good Counsel Network and The 40 Days for Life initiative relate to on another? Could they, perhaps, work together more closely?

There is a Brighton based secular group who also do excellent work. They are confrontational in terms of displaying graphic images, the jury appears out on this delicate issue - are shock tactics (realism) good or bad?
But they do appear to be ultra organised, here is a snippet from their update email service:
We are planning to hold the first of our central London displays on Tuesday the 29th of March.  (Timings to be confirmed)

The abortion providers like to portray themselves as moderate, professional and caring organisations.  We want their neighbours to see what "Reproductive Health" looks like.  We will be taking large banners depicting the beauty of life and the brutality of abortion to their doors.  We can't do that without your help.

We need:
Someone who can drive the team to London from the Brighton area (fuel/parking and congestion will be paid for)
Camera person
Banner holders
Counsellors
Post-abortive women
Donors to help pay for fuel/parking and congestion charge as well as other expenses!!

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are able to help.

Ends/................

This is not meant as a sniping comment, I am a believer in learning from the success of others. One thing is absolutely crystal clear.......MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! There are 34 more days to go...please do it!

One last point, when doctors or nurses who carry out abortions are at dinner parties or other social events and their neighbour leans across to ask:
"What do you do for a living?"
How do they frame their answer?
