Fr Tim Finigan reports that the Irish Bishops have decided to make a bold move in defence of the Church in Ireland, the unborn and Ireland in general.
To consecrate Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is no small thing. It is a very encouraging move by the Bishops of Ireland. It speaks of faith - not trusting in their own power or influence, which, as we know, has diminished since the abuse scandal broke.
It is both a message and a spiritual consecration that says that Ireland's Bishops believe that Our Lady is a protectress and the most powerful of all intercessors. Ireland, much like England, is embroiled in a profound spiritual war and the demons fear none so much as Our Blessed Lady. The Bishops of Portugal consecrated their besieged country in 1931 and the effects were profound. God willing, there is hope yet for Ireland.
Perhaps after they have consecrated the nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, they might also think of announcing the formal excommunication of those slippery politicians who have sold their souls and the lives of the unborn down the river simultaneously.
